Jennifer McCormick is a secondary teacher at Golden Hills Learning Academy and founder of Jennifer McCormick Consulting, based in Strathmore, Alberta. With more than two decades in K–12 education — over ten of them in online and asynchronous environments — she brings a practical, grounded perspective to the conversation around AI in schools.
Since founding her consulting practice in 2022, Jennifer has worked with school divisions and organizations across Canada and the United States — including the Mental Health Commission of Canada — to develop AI-integrated curriculum and custom training programs. She is a sought-after speaker known for making complex AI concepts accessible and useful for teachers and administrators alike.
Her approach is simple: AI should amplify what great educators already do, not replace them.
Traditional assessment isn't working — not because of AI, but because AI made it impossible to ignore the issues. Simply banning AI doesn't work. What AI actually exposed was weak student evaluation: assignments that could always be gamed, assessments that never required real thinking, and tasks designed for compliance rather than competency development.
